Everything at Once

Now that the song that I posted yesterday is stuck in everyone's head, which one is your favorite simile?
When I asked this yesterday in class, I loved it when one of the students replied, "Strong as a family."
Families have power.  Similes and metaphors have power.  Words have power.

Yesterday we also discussed Romeo and Juliet.  Why do we read this play and dissect it?  It is not a romance, that is for sure.  We did talk a little about why people wrote sonnets and that was to woo women.  We were told by one student that he would remember that for when he is 24.  I love this class!  We read Romeo and Juliet as a cautionary tale.  We learn about human character weaknesses and strengths and what to do and what not to do.

This week everyone needs to read Romeo and Juliet Act III Scenes 3-5.  The paper that everyone needs to write is: "What is the definition of consequences?  Do all choices have consequences? Explain."  The bonus question is: "Which other play of Shakespeare's contains the story of Romeo & Juliet?"

Also. make sure to work on Sonnets and memorizing the set piece.  Maybe Taylor will grace us with her recitation of the set piece?!?  We will also see Issac crowned and hear presentations from Adam and Merry!
